Our 2021 Staff

Emily Nicholson – Pool Manager

Meet our Pool Manager and Board Member, Emily Nicholson!! She joined Jonestown with her family in 2003, and was a member of the swim team for 11 years until she aged out in 2017. She cherishes the relationships she has made at the pool and knows that she will have them for a lifetime. Emily is graduating with a BS elementary education from Appalachian State University in May. She is also a member of the Honors College and successfully defended her Thesis “How Adverse Childhood Experiences Affect Student Achievement and Overall School Experience in Schools in Watauga County, North Carolina” in the fall. About her summers she says: “As a child, I always wanted to be a lifeguard. Now that I am both a lifeguard and the pool manager, I love serving as a role model to all the kids at Jonestown!” 2021 will be Emily’s 5th year as manager and 8th overall summer on staff.

 

 

Sarah McCully – Assistant Pool Manager

Meet Assistant Manager, Sarah McCully who joined Jonestown with her family in 2012 and was a member of the swim team from ages 11-12. Sarah is a freshman at Appalachian State University studying Exercise Science and plans to pursue Physical Therapy upon completion of her undergraduate degree. She loves hanging at the pool in the summer and hanging out with her friends – her favorite thing about the pool is being around friends & family and hanging with all of the kids! About her summers she says: “Since joining the pool I was inspired by how the lifeguards interacted with the members, and it encouraged me to become a lifeguard.” 2021 will be Sarah’s 3rd summer as part of the management staff and 5th overall summer on staff.

 

 

Samantha Hamilton – Assistant Pool Manager

Meet the other of our Assistant Managers, Samantha Hamilton!! She joined Jonestown with her family in 2009 and is still a member of the swim team. Samantha is in her senior year at West Forsyth High School where she is on the swim team in addition to swimming for TYDE. Her favorite thing about the pool is the community! About her summers she says: “It’s always fun to be at the pool!” 2021 will be Samantha’s 1st full summer as part of the management staff and 4th overall summer on staff.

 

 

 

 

Shelby McChesney – Lifeguard

Meet lifeguard Shelby McChesney! She goes to West Forsyth High School and swims for TYDE. Her favorite thing about Jonestown is “the people,” saying, “I love how welcome everybody makes you feel.” When asked why she wanted to be a lifeguard she said: “I thought it would be a great first job to have, and I was right! I can’t wait to continue my journey.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Owen Smith – Lifeguard

Meet lifeguard Owen Smith!! Owen is a sophomore at West Forsyth High School. His favorite thing about Jonestown is “the people” and he chose to become a lifeguard because his “family enjoys spending time at the pool and there are a lot of great people!” A fun fact about Owen is that he plays soccer for North Carolina Fusion!

 

 

 

 

 

Julia Nicholson – Lifeguard

Meet lifeguard Julia Nicholson!! Julia is a freshman at West Forsyth High School where she also plays volleyball. Her favorite thing about Jonestown is spending time with her friends and family and she chose to become a lifeguard because of that! A fun fact about Julia is that she plays volleyball for two teams at the same time!

 

 

 

 

Haley Eisenbraun – Lifeguard

Meet lifeguard Haley Eisenbraun!! Haley is a freshman at West Forsyth High School. Her favorite thing about Jonestown is “the community and all the friends made along the way!”  She says she chose to become a lifeguard because “I grew up being friends with a lot of the lifeguards and I knew I wanted to be like them.” A fun fact about Haley is that she has been a vegetarian for over three years!
