Emily Nicholson – Pool Manager

Meet Pool Manager and Board Member, Emily Nicholson, who joined Jonestown with her family in 2003. A member of the swim team until she aged out in 2017, Emily loves swimming and cherishes the relationships—both friends and mentors—she has made at the pool. Emily is a full-time student in the Honors College at Appalachian State University, where she is studying elementary education. She comments, “As a child, I always wanted to be a lifeguard. Now that I am both a lifeguard and the pool manager, I love serving as a role model to all the kids at Jonestown!”



Sarah McCully – Assistant Pool Manager

Meet Assistant Manager, Sarah McCully who joined Jonestown with her family in 2012 and was a member of the swim team from ages 11-12. Sarah will attend Appalachian State University to study Physical Therapy. She loves hanging out at the pool in the summer and hanging out with her friends – her favorite thing about the pool is being around friends & family and hanging with all of the kids! About her summers she says: “Since joining the pool I was inspired by how the lifeguards interacted with the members, and it encouraged me to become a lifeguard.”





Samantha Hamilton – Lifeguard

Meet lifeguard Sami Hamilton! She is a junior at West Forsyth High School and her favorite thing about Jonestown is the community! She says she wanted to become a lifeguard because “Every time I went to the pool, the lifeguards were always friendly and seemed like a good group of friends and an accepting community.”







Sofia Kremidas – Lifeguard

Meet lifeguard, Sofia Kremidas. She a junior at Western Carolina University studying elementary education and will begin student teaching in 2020!  Her favorite thing about Jonestown is the community and when asked why she became a lifeguard, she said it was so she could “meet more people.”







Shelby McChesney – Lifeguard

Meet lifeguard Shelby McChesney! She goes to West Forsyth High School and swims for TYDE. Her favorite thing about Jonestown is “the people,” saying, “I love how welcome everybody makes you feel.” When asked why she wanted to be a lifeguard she said: “I thought it would be a great first job to have, and I was right! I can’t wait to continue my journey.”







Trevor Wyatt – Lifeguard

Meet lifeguard Trevor Wyatt.  He will attend Gardner-Webb University.  When asked what his favorite thing about Jonestown is, he said: “I love the supportive community and the friends I’ve made that will last a lifetime!” He chose to become a lifeguard because, when he was younger he always wanted to be! He also says, “When both of my sisters became lifeguards at Jonestown, I followed in their footsteps.”





Kayla Wyatt – Lifeguard

Meet lifeguard, Kayla Wyatt! Right now, she is in cosmetology school at GTCC! Her favorite thing about Jonestown is the community. She says, “Everyone here forms a bond that is like family!” When asked why she wanted to become a lifeguard she said: “I have been attending Jonestown for 15 or so years and always looked up to the lifeguards as a kid. I knew one day I wanted to be someone for the kids of Jonestown to look up to.”
